Description

Just a little something I'm working on for class. Our final is supposed to demonstrate everything we've learned this semester, so modeling, texturing, lighting and animation. I'm going as far as including dynamics as well (which we're not taught in our intro class).

It's looking fairly decent so far I think. I tried to keep a majority of it simply on the geometry. This model's going to be pretty close to the camera in a few shots so I had to make sure I modeled all the details I figured you'd want to see.

Currently sitting at 7200 faces, might add some more for the knotting of the handle wrapping. Most of the polys are from the wrapping anyhow.

You've got the right idea, but the tip shape is far too hard. There are many styles, however the most common is the traditional Shinogi-Zukuri. The tip has a gradual curve as opposed to a flat edge. The body of the blade has a consistent diameter between the sharp edge and the flat edge, on yours it tapers down twords the tip. A good refrence is here;
